It's a raw file, my dear friend
More specifically, it's a Canon Raw file from one of the newer models. Don, it's probably from your G9!

Also the same as from my Canon 30D. My G6 produces CRW file extensions.

Interestingly, not all CR2 files are the same - hence the ongoing need for Adobe to issue new versions of ACR and LR. I've had four cameras with CR2 files: 30D, 40D, G9, and G10; all different. Most recently, the G10 CR2 files wouldn't open with ACR 5.1; had to wait for 5.2. Constant tinkering on the part of the manufacturers...

So CR = Canon Raw.

Chuck, is there such a diference between the G9 and the G10 that move you to buy it?
:thanks:

Don, the G10 has a wider wide angle: 28 mm equivalent for the G10 vs. 35 mm for the G9. The tradeoff is that the G10 has a shorter 'reach' at the long end. Not sure I can say it was worth the $$ - time will tell.

p.s. I still have the G9, so I've preserved my options.... :D

Thank's Chuck, BTW did you know that the difference between a 35mm and a 24mm is 2 steps back and you get the same angle of view. I learned this at a Nikon School in 1972. So I asume that the difference between a 28 and a 24 will be one step back.

Don
