camera raw help

I installed CS3 on the new laptop.
I dug around on the adobe site looking for the correct camera raw to install.

can anyone help?

kimi, I think you need camera raw 4.1 and/or 4.6 update. Try this link:

I think this is the last ACR version compatible with CS3.

ok... what is the difference between camera raw and camera raw with the dng converter?

Camera raw is the plug-in module to convert the raw files.
DNG converter is a stand-alone application which can convert native raw formats into the Adobe DNG format.

The DNG converter is free and can convert even recent camera file formats, whereas the 4.4 or 4.6 ACR version do not support recent cameras. So, if you have such a camera, you'll have to use the converter which will produce DNG files readable by ACR 4.x. I think the present version of the DNG converter is 5.4? I'll have to check this.

I downloaded the one from the Adobe site. It must be just the camera raw because I only have 1 icon.
Now I am reading the directions on how to install? Where the heck does it go?
