I want to use a poem on the back cover of the photo books I am making, if I find one is it all right to copy it as long as I include the name of the author????

Suzi, that depends on the copyright of the poem and how it is being used. Most of the time you will find it is OK since you are using it for personal use and not commercial but it is always a good idea to find out the copyright provisions of the poem, image, etc you want to use.
