I saw this news item tonight online. Wow. To me it illustrates perfectly our society of more, more, more!

http://www.popphoto.com/news/2011/11/what-it-looks-if-you-print-all-photos-uploaded-to-flickr-24-hours

Another article about the same thing http://mashable.com/2011/11/14/flickr-kessels-photography/ says, " The question is less about how many pictures we take but rather how freely we share those images with complete strangers online." It reminds me of blogging - just because you have something to say, doesn't mean the whole world is interested in hearing it. Quantity vs quality, that's what it makes me consider.

Your thoughts?

Thank goodness all images aren't printed. It would be interesting to know the percentage printed by the average person. For me, that would be less than 1% of my images.

Even though it sounds like Flickr is a dump of sorts, it is also provides much useful visual information about our world. Flickr seems similar to a huge directory in which one can look up many locales.

Thanks for posting the interesting articles.

Very interesting. I like Betty print less than 1%.
It all depends on what kind of shoot I am doing as to how many get printed. I don't share on any of the photo sharing sites that are open to the public. facebook etc.

When I do share it is a photo that I am ready to give up all rights to so I am so careful about all of that.

Very interesting! I rarely print individual prints, though I do use them in photo books or photo cards. I try to be careful about what I share on the internet, but it's become so second nature to share everything. Caution often gets thrown into the wind!
