All of the big trees in my yard are Silver Maples which were planted years before I moved here in 1972. One of the fastest growing maples, it's the tree of choice if you are trying to turn a corn field into a landscaped suburban lot. Unfortunately, the leaves turn a drab yellow. I planted a Sugar Maple about 15 years ago ... great, bright yellow color.

My tree always starts turning about two weeks after the ones across the street; I wish it would be sooner so I could make photos with my tree lined up with the bright orange one across the way. The orange tree has already lost almost half of the leaves to the wind.
