How Creative Cloud can be a bargain for some users

Scott Kelby states that there is a lot of misinformation about Adobe Creative Cloud Pricing.
The way he explains it --- Creative Cloud subscription will not be $50-mo for current CS PS users, but $10-mo for a 1-year contract for current users of CS3 - 6.
Please read terms here http://www.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/ccm_single_app_offer.html. (need to register before July 31) https://creative.adobe.com/plans?plan=offers

The $600 yr subscription is only for new users of the whole suite -- Illustrator, Acobat, etc.

Kelby also explains that NEW USERS of PS can subscribe for $20.00/mo - 1 yr contract. (register before July 31). So, it sounds as if PSE users will be able to upgrade to PS (CC) for $240/yr. (Cheaper than my 1st PSE to PS upgrade in 08, which was about $300 +). fwiw (not sure what monthly subscriptions will be in the future)

Here is a link to Kelby's 'The Grid' explaining the pricing plans at this time. http://kelbytv.com/thegrid/2013/05/09/the-grid-episode-95-discussing-adobe-creative-cloud/
Unfortunately, he doesn't get to the pricing details for about 5 minutes - after way too many ads & talk.
But, it is definitely worth watching if you might be interested in the bargain aspects of subscribing to the CC

I (as a CS6 user) likely will subscribe for only $10.00 a month, while maintaining the program on my PC.
However, there are still a lot of unanswered questions that I need answers to before signing up. Scott's May 7 blog Q&A provides some interesting info. http://scottkelby.com/

Looking forward to what other members learn & think about the future of PS. (please correct me if I misunderstood the pricing of moving from PSE to PS CC)

Betty,

I think that is the pricing for only the first year - then in the second year and subsequent ones it becomes $19.95 per month.

John, thanks for clearing up the pricing for the single PS CC for 1 year. I believe Scott states that it will likely be $20 the following year, but it isn't definite at this time. I just hope it won't be higher than $20. If so, then I will consider non-CC options.

Corporations are in business to make money. Adobe is a typical corporation that wants to keep the cash flowing in to the delight of the shareholders. This is the driving force behind CC. The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. Living on a fixed income causes one to be cautious about signing any long term contracts.
Do I need CC? Not really. It's kind of like Lightroom.....don't really need it either. It kind of sticks in my craw that Adobe wants me to rent CS6 when I've already paid for it. I know there will be updates for it but will they be of benefit to me?
I'm really not happy the way Adobe sprung this on us users. Think I'll stand pat for now.
Chas

Like Scott said, each user needs to decide whether CC is right for him/her.
Recently, Adobe provided some useful updates to those already subscribed to the cloud. I was disappointed that they weren't available for me.
Here are some of the updates which will be available as soon as one subscribes for PS CC.
' A complete walkthrough of What's new in Photoshop CC' : http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/photoshop-cc-features/
(I haven't completed the article yet - still watching & reading)
After June 17, we will be in a better position to understand PS CC when many reviewers will be offering their opinion & experiences.

fwiw: I do have access to Google Drive cloud (free). I love it, but that's a whole different thing, which applies to mobile stuff & access, sync, etc.

I surely will not use a program i can not own. If i can swing it i will purchase cs6 extended before it disappears but that will be the end for me if we can not buy outright.

Judy, I feel sure Adobe is hearing the same from thousands of PS users. Hopefully, the uproar will impact their decisions in favor of customers.

Here is an online petition against CC, should anyone be interested https://www.change.org/petitions/adobe-systems-incorporated-eliminate-the-mandatory-creative-cloud-subscription-model

--- in the meantime, for those who might be interested, Jeff Tranberry (Photoshop's Chief Customer Advocate) has some helpful answers about CC
