Less than a week ago we saw mom sitting on the eggs. Today 2 chicks (green heron) were out, still a bit wobbly getting from limb to limb, but getting used to the world.

Great shot, tennie! Is this in the wild, a bird preserve or ? What a funny looking little guy. Good thing mom and dad didn't feel the need to peck you for getting close to Jr. Their giant long beaks would hurt!

Thanks Judy and Courtney. The birds are in an aviary at a State Park that rescues injured birds. The parents would be in that category. Birds are released when (and if) they are able to go back to the wild. The nest these were in had been used by other green herons this Spring/Summer.

BTW, I wasn't all that close....zoom lens.
