A free download for these wondrous templates is from Lloyd Williams Photography via Mark S. Johnson's web site.

I only took a super quick look at this, but plan to go back. Here is the link:

I think you need a full version of Photoshop that supports Smart Objects. I have seen references to a plugin that enables it for Elements, but never paid attention, so can't help out with the link.

The kaleidoscope templates are meant for full Photoshop but you may be able to use them in Elements by using the "place" command. Using this command turns the picture into a smart object.

I watched the workbench as well. I believe the effect can be done without smart objects, but would take a lot more time & patience. Good idea to try 'place', Chas.
Also, it could be done with an action, should anyone be inclined to make one & share. Mark's crystal example is beautiful.

I guess I don't know how to make that a hot link to click on.

There is a work around for curves in PSE. It's called smart curves. I downloaded it some time ago. I can email it to you if you wish.http://www.free.pages.at/easyfilter/curves.html

oops, Chas, looks like I kind of messed up things when I deleted my previous post concerning curves.
Thanks for your info about smart curves. I've been thinking about installing it.

edit for my previous/deleted post:
Thanks for the url to the site, Tina

Just for the heck of it, I extracted & installed the filter into my elements6 plugins/filters folder (I didn't want to chance messing up my CS3). The plugin file is 515 kb compared to the 25mb Williams template file. The plugin caused no problems & works great with many options --- really fun to use.

I'm sure that the Williams templates produce beautiful results, but 25 mb seems high for something which will be used only occasionally.

btw, there are some pretty interesting free plugins at the same site.
