Thanks, Linda, I will be trying that one out for sure.
Hi Linda. I'm new here - - this is my first posting.
Photoshop Elements 5 doesn't seem to have a Layer Mask function. Do you know of any way to apply this Shadows & Highlights function using commands in PSE5?

---David
Hi, David. Welcome to the forum. There are several layer masks add-ons that you can get for elements.
Grant's tools..free
Graffi's actions..about 8 bucks but you get a tons of stuff and they work great. One with the mask is called Handy actions

Just took another look at the tut and you can hijack a layer mask. Here is what to do
highlight the background layer
open a level layer adjustment layer and just click ok
now go back to the top layer and do this
go to layers>group with pervious

now you can paint with black on the layer mask on the levels adjustment layer. Here is a screenshot. click on it to enlarge

I've added that tut to my favorites. Need more time to get everything done, and I still need to get Grant's tools installed on PSE 7....I do have them on 5. And then my textures need to be done and .................

This is such a great place. Glad I stumbled in. :thanks:
I am glad you did too!!!
