I said, "thanks and showed her my name on the prints." She was full of compliment and that made my day and I forgot about all the trouble I was having.

Jen, that's great! Apparently they've been trained to request validation any time they encounter photos that have a professional look to them. They're protecting their flanks, as they could be sued for copyright infringement. The copying places like Kinko's are also much more careful these days about potential copyright violations...

I went back to Walmart today and talked with the main person there. He said that the only thing he can think of is that when the online service uploads the print it converts it to their system or file extension and this is where some of the photo is lost. He is getting all of the format and file sizes for me hopefully by tomorrow and I will relay the info if anyone uses Walmart to print photos.

That is odd - I follow the same method Chuck described and print at Walmart since that is the closest place to me. (20 miles for any other place I can upload to) And other than having to fight them about my "professional" photos every other time, I haven't had any problems with them cropping things they shouldn't.
Jane, please tell me what are your file settings for printing an 8x10 or 4x6 I am having all kinds of issues. They cut off wording that has plenty of room on the print and looks fine on the screen when you upload it. I don't know what they are doing because they have ruined all my christmas card photos and I'm waiting on remakes.

Jen, are you cropping to exactly 8 by 10 or 4 by 6 before submitting your photos?

Thank you for the information. I have just scanned a bunch of 4 x 6 photos for some editing and cleanup and am going to try and make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. This resizing will help a lot.

Sounds like there is a problem with your local lab. Sure hope they can figure out the problem on their end and get you the prints you want.
Me too Jane, this had been a real problem......I will figure it out or they will for me if they want my business and hopefully there will be quite a bit of it to be had soon.
