This technique is borrowed from Tim Grey's DDQ newsletter. I have changed it some for PSE.
1.open portrait
2.Ctrl J to duplicate background
3.Ctrl I to invert colors
4.Change blend mode to color dodge
5.Filter>Blur>Gaussian blur, adjust radius to get detail
6. Adjustment layer (hue/sat)>desaturate to remove color
7.Adjustment layer(levels) > blacken to suit
Since I don't read every tut I don't know if this has been done here before.

Chas, she is so adorable and the technique looks great.
Interesting method, Chas,
thanks for posting.

I was out bumming around in the "old part" of downtown Waukesha yesterday. I was specifically "looking at windows". I did a straight B&W conversion of this one; think I like this sketch result better.

Nice results, Rusty! So you were looking for windows? Good thing you didn't get arrested, you peeping Tom! :rotfl:

This week's scraplift uses a window frame. If you got any shots of windows with interesting frames, I could use it for the scraplift. Any style would work...

Chas, this is a very simple procedure that I had forgotten about. Thanks for jogging the memory.
