Anything and everything about Photoshop Elements

Ok, I am having memory lost, like to add a couple more fonts and brush set to Elements and CS3. Now I know I can add my fonts into Windows, but isn't there another way to have Elements or CS3 pick these up from another locataion?

Same question about adding brushes, I know I have done it, just can't remember how.

Thanks,

Dane once you add your fonts into you font folder in the control panel, those fonts will show up in all your other software.

As for brushes... yes you can add them straight to your brush folder in CS but I prefer to have a folder outside of the software and load from there. This has saved me!! Every time I upgrade my brush folder is in tact. I can open Elements or CS and access the same brush folder.

I have mine in "My Documents", it is named Downloaded Brushes. Once you access the path thru the software it will remember where the path is and go to it every time. :P

So Kimi, on the fonts I can't just create a folder and have PSE or CS3 point to that (if I understand correctly that is no).

On the brushes, for the life of me, I can't seem to get them pull in. I must be having a senior time out or something. :crying:

Ok and thanks for your input. Will try this again later in the day. Need to drink some more coffee and tea before trying again. :spew:

Here is the info about fonts I copied from Diana from Elements Village.

Fonts, Type Tool, and Text Tips

Using a Font in Elements Without Installing It
Be judicious about installing fonts you will use infrequently - like holiday fonts. For those fonts, there is a work around –
Save the font in a file
Click to open the font file - it looks like a sample page - minimize that screen
THEN open Elements.
That font will be available as long as you have both the font file and Elements open.
Open the Font File first, then open Elements - the downside to this technique - if you want to open a font after opening Elements, you'll have to shut down Elements, open the font - then re-open Elements.

Tips on using fonts without installing them and/or what fonts not to delete (in Windows).

Another tip from her:
If you have fonts that you only want to be available in your Adobe apps….
put them here: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\
