Does anyone know of a site that has estimates on costs for ink laid down on paper?

It's easy to determine the cost of a sheet of paper but cost for the ink is another story.

I imagine the cost per 8x10 will differ from printer to printer, ink to ink, and the image itself. What I'm looking for is a "best guess estimate/average cost/general rule of thumb".
I have no idea, but it's a great question. Thanks for asking.

It's something that I have always wondered about.
I also asked this question in village.

Some links were provided and below is my reply to them.

Wow!

There is a great variety of answers to the question of the cost of ink laid down on a page. The estimates seem to vary from about $0.25 to $1.50 per 8x10 depending on the ink used.

The reason I asked has to do with figuring costs and markup for print services.

Wet processing was much easier. Cost per 8x10, not counting costs for equipment, only chemistry and paper, ran between $0.35 and $0.75.

At work we use a Fuji Pictography 4500. The cost for an 8x10 (printed on an 8.5x11 feed) is $4.52. Noritsu's new printer (cost of the set up is about $65K) claims an 8x10 costs about $0.48.

I now have a ballpark figure to start with. Paper + $0.75 should be a close start.

Thanks much for the help.
Red River has a list of estimated cost ink/paper per print.
