Thanks so much for the suggestion of the test pictures. Turns out there wasn't a lot of difference between the 2! However, when I tried Easy Photo Print the photos were definitely darker - very interesting!

Conclusions: As time went on, the landscape test print I was using did get somewhat better which may have had something to do with the cartridges even though the results didn't change immediately after putting new cartridges in. My landscape test print in Easy Photo Print may have looked better because it was on the light side to begin with, and the darkness of EPP may have brought out the colors better......

That Ink Jet Art site is a great tout and I'll continue to use the baby picture download for printer calibration.
