For those who have Scott Kelby's The Digital Photography Book, you might want to check out Amazon. The new book, Volume 2 will be released on January 5th. You can pre-order it for $14.99, $10 off regular price. Here is part of the description:

"In Volume 2, Scott adds entirely new chapters packed with Plain English tips on using flash, shooting close up photography, travel photography, shooting people, and even how to build a studio from scratch, where he demystifies the process so anyone can start taking pro-quality portraits today! Plus, he's got full chapters on his most requested topics, including loads of tips for landscape photographers, wedding photographers, and there's an entire chapter devoted to sharing some of the pro's secrets for making your photos look more professional, no matter what you're shooting."

Kim I have book one and ordered this book too. I'm really looking forward to getting this one. I pre-ordered from Amazon, they will give the lower price if it drops between now and the release. I have never had one complaint about Amazon.

After replying in the other thread to Bayla and starting this thread I too pre-ordered the book and I also pre-ordered Canon EOS 40D Field Guide for $13.59, want to learn more on this camera.

Edit, I think I will cancel the Field Guide and find another book on the 40D. That one doesn't come out until April 7.

Kim,
Have you checked if there is a "Short Course" book for your 40D?
They are written in plain English and well worth the cost.

Chas, there is a short course book on Amazon for $36.95. I put it in my wish list to think about it.

Kim, there is another 40D book that I just ordered as well and it's out now. Cost is 23.95 not bad if you can find something to add for a few more dollars and get the free shipping.

I have book 1 - and pre-ordered book 2. While I don't much care for the business dealings Scott's compnay does, I sure do like his books. :)
I think I know where the copy of book 1 is - the library. I specifically remember reading it, but it is nowhere to be found here and I've checked all the usual places (including the primary reading room!).

I just checked Amazon and I can get a really great deal on Volume 2, they sent me a coupon and I can get the book for $11.00 plus shipping. The catch is orders over $25 are shipped free. So, my question is, do I need Volume 1 to understand volume 2? If not I'm just getting Vol. 2. Any advice is appreciated.
