Sunny, how awful. I think you did the right thing by sending your camera back to Canon. I remember reading somewhere that you should never blow into your camera or even on a lens. Bacteria from your breath can actually grow on your lens or camera. I'm not sure if that's true or not but I use one of those rocket blowers and it works great. Hope you have your camera back soon. My son sent his camera to Canon and had it back in about a week.

That was a quick turnaround, Anita. I hope I'm so lucky. It was UPS'd out today to California. I'm hoping they'll just clean it, slap my hands and send it back to me without charging me an arm and a leg. Hopefully, I didn't damage the sensor. I've certainly learned my lesson. I think I need to keep my house dusted a little better, too. :rotfl:

Dusting :o Don't be ridiculous. Why do you think I have all those sensor cleaning supplies? :bigwink:
Linda, you're too funny. After my camera is out of warranty, I'd like to learn all about those sensor cleaning supplies. My way obviously wasn't very good.

Sunny and anyone else interested...

The Camera Store where I do business sells this SENSOR SCOPE by Delkin Devices

With this scope you can see any dust on your sensor that needs cleaning (scroll down for a screen shot)

The store also sells this Refill kit used to clean the sensor.

Michael Andrews (the guy that made the DVD for the Canon XSi camera) uses Dust Aid

Here is a YouTube video with Michael showing how to use Dust Aid to clean your sensor

There are many products made to clean sensors.

Thanks, Charles. I wish I had researched before taking things into my own hands. :crying: Like I said, live and learn. :)

Sunny,

I have been in your shoes more than I want to confess! Many times I did something without thinking and caused more problems than I should have. We have all been there!

Someone took pity on this newbie at Canon.....I got an e-mail today saying it's going to be fixed under warranty and returned. :woohoo: I'm so anxious to get it back. It's amazing how using it for 3 weeks got me spoiled.

That is great news, Sunny. I also just heard on my sick one and it is going to cost me a bunch to get it fixed. Warranty has run out. I could buy a new camera body almost for the cost of fixing. Ugh
Suzi,

Umnh, two Xsi, means you don't have to get the quick lens exchange down pat. :)

Opportunity knocks! :woohoo: :woohoo:
