I met a guy last summer who told me he went to Costa Rica on vacation. In the national parks (where it rains briefly twice each day) there were kiosks selling stuff --- usual tourist junk. But, they also had plastic "rain sleeves" that fit over cameras. These had a round hole, rimmed with elastic, that fit around the lens hood and the rest covered the camera and your hands. Sorta like a tent I guess. Cost about five dollars. Does this describe your "rain jacket"?

I tried without success to find something like that in our two local full-service camera stores. They knew what I was talking about but had never seen enough demand to stock it. Suggested I find a copy of Outdoor Photographer magazine and look in the ads.
