I'm probably not doing this right...my poor brain is having trouble with the guy's wordy directions. And I did add a linen finish to the mat/frame.

Nice results, everyone! I am surprised no bevels were used, since mats are bevel cut and the idea seemed to be to simulate a real mat. I think a 3D look is created and that works well.

Thank you for the tut it came just on time as I'm designing a wedding album with 40 sides and I was just running out of ideas, LOL. The frame looks very delicate.
BTW shutterfreaks.com have some nice FREE frame Photoshop and Elements actions
