I saw a fun tutorial on Mark Johnson's site:
http://www.msjphotography.com/index.php ... to-effect/

I used a shot from Morguefile. Since the tut was in PS and I have PSE9, I had to make my grid lines using the pencil tool instead of the rectangular marquee tool. But other than that, I thought it was simple and I learned a few things.

http://robertsproductions.net/ is a site that has weekly tutorials dealing with Photoshop and digital video.
Check it out, I think you may like it. I also visit Mark Johnson's site weekly.

Thanks Chas so much to learn and so little time.
Judy and Betty, thank you. :)

Chas, I bet you posted something once from Mark's site, because I don't know how I would have found it otherwise. I bookmarked it, but I don't recall how long ago. Thanks for the Roberts site link. I need places with tutorials to go to for inspiration when I want to create something but am drawing a blank.

Courtney,

Might have been me - I have been a long term visitor to his site and it's predecessor The Radiant Vista.

Another good one and a spin off or RV is The Mindful Eye - http://www.tmelive.com/ - this one is heavy on composition and analyses, whereas Mark's is on primarily Photoshop.

A lot of Mark's tutorials are portable to elements and his site is my Thursday morning coffee and teaching first looked at site.

Chas, thanks for the link. I bookmarked it --- looking forward to exploring.

John, like you, I have followed Mark since he was at Radiant Vista, where his workbench episodes were available for only 2 weeks. Isn't it wonderful that he provides them permanently (so far). He even has sponsors now for the older posts. btw: thanks for the link.

Neat tutorial, Courtney. I like Mark Johnson's tutorials. I have his CD, also. Great for inspiration.
I didn't have a guitar player, so used a statue from the Dallas Arboretum. Because of the busy background, decided to use fewer rectangles.

Didn't follow the tutorial 100%, unintentionally.

used glow on black grid to soften it some; probably wouldn't do it that way again

another version for fun

Thanks to Courtney for posting the tutorial. It sure would be interesting to see other members' versions.

FWIW: I learned & refreshed some things from Mark's tutorial, too.
