Do not install the 1.4 update to LR. Adobe have acknowledged a number of bugs in it and have pulled it from their website. A new release will be issued soon.

I was so proud of myself for finding that update and installing it immediately....

After Colin's warning, I did a little research via Matt's Lightroom Killer Tips blog and found that indeed this was a seriously flawed update. Fortunately, Adobe provided a 'backdate' and instructions to remove 1.4 and re-install 1.3.1 So if anyone else jumped the gun as I did, here's a link to the description of the problem with additional links to the temporary solution:

Thanks again, Colin!

Thanks to Colin and Chuck on this.

I have been using LR for the last month and saw the update notice on Saturday, went with it.

I have LR set so that it automatically updates the XMP file and I was noticing that in addition to updating the XMP the CR2 date time stamp for last modified was being updated also.

Adobe has lost its mind - no business at all messing with a RAW file.

Do I understand this correctly, I have to completely uninstall LR. Download load the older version and reinstall that one>. do we also have to put the avtivation code in also, I am going to have to dig around to find mine.
Suzi, steps that I took:

1. Download LR Version 1.3.1 from the adobe website:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ ... ftpID=3815

2. In XP, go to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. Find Lightroom 1.4 and click on remove.

3. Install 1.3.1 from the file you downloaded in Step 1. It should NOT ask you for any codes.

4. Allow LR to restart; should be good to go.

I would recommend backing up the catalog and a copy of your user preset folders somewhere on your hard drive (internal or external) just in case.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Chuck, did you have to reload your presets folders. I would think when you uninstall, you lose all that stuff??
I just went back to 1.3.1 on my LR and did not have to reload my presets. But, you should still back your stuff up just like Chuck says. You NEVER KNOW when it might be needed!
