The last one......I used one of ProfoPhoto's focus gradients (multiple gradients in one preset), Civil War preset and made some other adjustments.

First one - did some basic adjustments in Lr, then took it into CS3 and used Noise Ninja (lots of noise) and Levels. Peeked at the time shot and it looks like early evening, so pushed it in that direction. Could probably use a little straightening, but . . .

I like it and, yes, it was early evening. I let my camera set ISO; big mistake. Almost all my pictures have way too much noise.

Brother Gene, FIRST CLASs job.

Thank you, Don!

Sunny:

As for using auto ISO, you may also want to check your camera settings and see if there is a minimum shutter speed your camera actually starts engaging auto ISO. I have used it occasionally, but I have my shutter speed set to 1/30 before it will actually kick in. That way the camera won't start increasing your ISO until you are in a situation where you really have to slow down the shutter speed to get a good exposure.

Thanks, Gene. I'll go check the book. I've never seen anything like that, but you never know what I missed. :) I know I would have been happier if I had taken the time to adjust ISO.....that's what I get for trying to skip a step.

Found my answer!!!!! I was shooting in Manual the majority of the time. The book says when shooting in Manual or with flash, Auto ISO is automatically set to 400! How stinky is that? Oh, how I wish I had read the book more carefully (or used AV or TV mode rather than Manual). Lesson learned.
