How do I get an image into LR that I have downloaded? Say just a random image that is sitting on my desktop?

Next, I have way too many presets. Is there a way to delete the preset while you are in the develop mode?

Kimi,

To add, you have to import in the Library Module or from the Develop Module, you can do a File, Import from Disk and point it to the Desktop and click select the image.

You can right click to delete an individual preset or the entire folder they are in.

thanks John

I tried right clicking on a preset and the only options I have are export and new folder.

I did get the other part to work.

Kimi, if you right click on a particular preset in the list down the left side, you should get a box with these choices:

Kimi,

Try doing a Help, About and see if you get this

In my case, I am running Lr 2.3 with ACR 5.3

If your Help, About indicates the same, are you running as an administrator or are the presets marked as Read Only?

Also, what OS are you running.

Edit:

And I get exactly what Chuck gets.

hmmm... my help says the same thing.
my user account shows I am administrator.

but when I right click I don't get all of the options you show. :crying:
I am running on XP.

Kimi, I am on xp and am getting all the options.
Kimi, you can search for the presets folder in Windows Explorer, then remove the files the old-fashioned way... :)

operator error yet again.

I was right clicking on the ones that came with the software. Once I right clicked on the ones I had added, it worked fine. Thanks so much for putting up with me.
