This is my first attempt at photographing Christmas lights. I set my camera on the indoor setting and the photo was taken between 5:45 and 6:15 p.m.

Yes, I used a tripod. This was really an experiment and I had fun just seeing if I could do it. I opened the photo in camera raw and it made a huge difference in the overall picture. I am planning a community calendar for next year and will use this photo as my December, 2008 calendar picture. Thanks to everyone who responded. As it relates to snow: I don't think it's possible ... except in Elements or Photoshop. Hey, now that's an idea!
