I tried to use this tool today in layers as I was making a collage. Somehow I have forgotten how to get the image onto a layer after I have used the magic selection brush tool on the image I want to select. It sounds so simple but I was left so frutrated as this was my last step in the project. When I couldn't do it I tried to resort to the eraser tool after using the lasso tool but this proved much too clumsy. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Jo,
if you selected the part you want in a new layer, go the layers menu and select new layer via copy or cut. If you selected the unwanted parts , you will want to select inverse then do a new copy via copy.
Hope this helps
:thanks: Thanks for your help. I realized that it was the magic extractor that I was searching for. I found it but still need help in figuring out how to put it on a layer where it is visible after I extract it. Any more tips about this would be great.
After you make your selection, hit Control J to place it on a new layer.
