Textbox when making a template

I've been learning how to make my own scrapbooking templates in PSE 3 so that I can use them over and over . The only problem I'm having is that the lessons are being taught in PSE 7 (I think) and this program appears to be able to make a textbox with the Type tool. My PSE does not have this capability...so how do I set up my journaling area so I can just clip a layer to it next time?

Hello! I haven't used PSE3 but assuming it works like versions 4-6.... The text tool should automatically set itself on a new layer. I just type 'journal' and name the layer to the name of the font I used for the template version. When you want to use the template you can just double click on the text layer and type in what you want then. And just use free transform to move the text as needed.
