I did the following out of bounds a week or so ago. Have been trying to add a trail from the engine to suggest the jet being on turbo charge or whatever the correct term is. I have had no joy would appreciate any help.

I can't help with your specific question, Kev,
(I don't know how to do that) but I sure like what you have so far. Well done.

I would try for a little more separation between the plane and the sky. Even though you made the BG black and white, the plane is so pale in color, it blends right into the grayscale sky. People know what color the airplane is supposed to be so you can't screw around with it much. Maybe a darker sky ??

I think the correct term for a jet is afterburner, as in "pouring on the afterburners" or something like that. And I wish I could help with the picture also.

Kev, I am looking for a tut for you. Here is one on making a comet tail which may or may not be useful:

Or else just cut and paste from another photo?

Kev,

A realistic afterburner flame would be a tight short cone from the exhaust area, likw the flame from a propane torch.

An exaggerated one woyld be the inverse of that - expanding out from the exhaust area.

Which one are you looking for?

John,
for the effect I'm thinking about would prepare the exaggerated one but either would do.

Kev,

I tried making flame from scratch and didnt have much luck. Found this in an image from the web on bunsen byrners, copied it out and fiddled with the colours, etc. I am inclined to try again with a better picture to begin with, but here it is for now.

Kev, I was thinking it would look cool with the jet looking like it is starting from the photo like when the space shuttle starts. Is that what you are thinking of?
