Rusty,
The icicle photos are playing tricks on my eyes.....the B&W looks backlit to me. You can see the light reflecting off the icicles in the color photo. The b&w looks more abstract than the color photo. Is this the effect you were trying to achieve?

You give me more credit than I deserve, Chas,
(to suggest I started out to achieve something)

I started out wanting to see what I could do with back lighted icicles, sparkling in the sun. I only had an hour or so to take the pics 'cause DW was hot after me to go around the house and knock them down before the weight damaged the gutters.

They really were backlit, your eyes are not fooling you. The B&W was intended to be an abstract, just a part of the original. Capturing the pretty light (original) was probably more effective than my attempt at a swirly B&W abstract.

Thank you, Don,

As I say, I'm still trying to teach myself to see more than the obvious. I sure have a long way to go. :D

Rusty,

Nice ice!!

I haven't seen 'em that big since I left Montana as a teenager... still remember playing with them (and slurping one or two :o ) as a kid.
