Most of the good black and whites I have seen have crisp edges. But, here is yesterday's fuzzy edged sunset in color and in black and white. I think the B&W holds its own.

I think they are both very nice, Gordon. I like the color one best though

Here is the cropped B&W that I had intended to post.

Gordon, IMHO the first one is better due to the mountains showing giving bepth to the image.

Gordon, I like the uncropped B&W better too. Nice job on the conversion. The B&W made for a more crisp looking image. IMO the color just looks like it has a blur.

Wow, beautiful image!
I have just found my missing glasses and see now that the blur I suspected is actually a blur, and not just the then very strong wind scattering the clouds.

As for the cropping: I lean towards the cropped version as the better artistic image and the full version the better documentary.

And, to give color equal time here is the full version:

Thank you all for your interest in the image.

hi Gordon... I hope you don't mind I played with your iamge.
I read an article just yesterday about using the burn and dodge tools on your black and white sunsets so I had to give it a try.

I did do a small levels adjustment then I played away. Can anyone tell a difference?
