I've seen some of these posted so I just had to give it a try. This was shot thru a hotel window; had to clone out some dirt on the glass.

Probably not the best image to have tried it on. My exposure was for the sky and adjusted to avoid any highlights on the clouds. The final result looks too plastic to me. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to avoid the halo around the edge of the arch. What do you think?

I think I got better results using "regular" Elements adjustments: levels, some dodging and then a masked brightness/contrast adjustment.
