One of my favorite places has "bad" leaf colours. Yellows, not reds. So . . . .

George,

Pure Photoshop.

Brought the sky in below the swamp, changed the swamp blend mode to overlay and added a little mask to the clouds layer. Hue and saturation layer for the red leaves and another for the foilage, finally copied and inverted the cloud layer for the water reflection.

George,

Although I am using CS3, I am pretty sure that the same things can be done in PSE5. The single exception is I am using an Exposure adjustment layer to bring back a little brightness to the image, but everything else is just layer masks and blending modes.

Ha! Welcome to my world (Calgary). The trees here turn yellow, or brown. Some bushes and plants turn red. It really can be pretty, I shouldn't complain. But it isn't what I am used to having grown up in Wisconsin. There are lots of beautiful maple trees in Wisconsin to turn red and orange.

Your after picture turned out great.

John, you have changed a snapshot into a beautifully artistic image. I also commend you on using Photoshop rather than relying on somebody else's action. Everything that can be done by an action can also be done directly in PS. All it requires is the desire to learn how. Great job; love your image!
