Well, after a lot of cussing (ladies cover your ears) and wailing and gnashing of teeth, I finally got this neat program to work. Had a heck of a time unzipping it. Had to do the run as admin. trick.
Well, here are two renditions of the old miner's cabin....before and after paint.

Love both photos Chas. that turned out great.
Great photos, Chas! Where was this miner's cabin located? It looks like a mighty lonely place to live.

Anita,
This is one of the last standing buildings of a mining town named Aarum. It is in northeast Nevada. The mountain range in the background is the Schell Creek Range. This mountain range runs north and south and lies east of Ely,Nevada. That's about four hours drive time from here. Thanks for asking.

Chas, it always amazes me how people left everything and went into desolate parts of the country to try to get rich. I know some did get rich, but most never did. I think seeing an old deserted mining town would be very interesting, well worth a four hour drive.

Finding remnants of mining towns in Nevada is quite a chore to begin with. Many mining towns were totally dismantled and moved to the next ore strike when the current mine played out. I've been to townsites where there was little more than foundations visible. And this particular townsite (Hot Creek) had 10,000 inhabitants at one time.
Bodie, in northern California, is one of the best preserved ghost towns. California made a good move when they made it into a state park.
