A lot of this old rolling stock is left over from the copper mines that were the mainstay of the Ely,Nevada area. The copper mine at Ruth,Nevada was at one time the largest open pit copper mine in the world. The tailings pile is so huge that you can see it from 50 miles away. I'm glad you like the photos,Betty. They used to have train rides out to the Ruth digs....but no more. The state of Nevada used to subsidize the train service but the budget crunch hit. They've even closed the Nevada State Train Museum in Carson City. A sad sign of the times.... Chas
