This week's theme is a technique rather than a specific subject. It's a depth of field exercise and the objective is to highlight the subject of your image and blur out the background and/or other parts of the image.

For those whose cameras don't allow for much manual control, remember that photoshopping is allowed ... so everyone can play! Thanks to Kimi for suggesting what I'm sure will be a fun theme.

Ready, apertures wide open, go!

The fine print:

Everyone is invited to participate.
Because the purpose of the weekly theme is to get us more familiar with our cameras and to sharpen our photographic skills, entries should be taken during the week of the theme.
Photoshopping is allowed.
Be creative and have fun!

I forgot I suggested this. Thanks Bill! I have been so wrapped up in taking care of the dog. My image for last week is still in my camera. I promise to do better this week.

This was a difficult assignment for me. I found out a lot of things about depth of field. For one thing, it is better if you have low light. Also, it is hard on the small child's table that I was using. I also turned my ISO way high.

I really like how the out of focus parts look in a sketch.
