Thank you Michel for tagging me. Here is Crop Challenge 10.

This is a larger size file (1.7MB)

This was taken in 1963 in East Tirol, Austria - very close to the border with Italy. I have not sharpened the image, leaving that to you after you decide on your crop size.

We are off to a start, I expect more will join in as time progresses...

Kim - you say "obvious", but it is well done.

Michel - I was wondering who was going to steal "my crop"; not surprised to see it was you. That woman is the reason I took this picture and like it so much. It amazed me to see a woman walking out to work in the field with a 500 year-old vintage wooden hand rake. (Maybe even older than 15th Century ... not sure)

Suzi - you grabbed my second choice - nice job to use a paint effect to compensate for loss of detail on such a tight crop. Just in case you didn't know, those buildings are typical for a small village, in this location, at this time. Those are barn/house. The ground floor is the barn, a haven for the animals in winter; the second floor is the home of the farm family. I guess it can get aromatic at times but the body heat of the animals rises to help heat the home. :D

I can understand why you were attracted by the sight of this woman; human and moving subject in a quiet landscape, plus the unexpected rake...
When I downloaded the full size image, it appeared slowly at full resolution in my browser and at one time, I had my crop full screen. That was a shock. I had to render that fugitive sight. Vignetting plus a mix of filters: paint daubs, poster edges and stylize/diffuse anisotropic made for a Cezanne look.

Because Michel "took mine" :D I tried something else.
Had to flip the image to get what I was after.

Used Anita's sketch with accented edges rather than poster edges.
