Angela, It's nice to have such an adorable little helper. I've enjoyed all your '8' this month.

Mary, Your 'crab' series is really interesting & helpful. I had never given much thought to preparing crabs. My last experience with such was when I was a kid in Galveston, Texas. We used to throw a bated line out & drag them in. :D

Like Angela, I'm stuck at finding a source for 'crab' so here are my substitutes.

2nd substitute for 'crab/crabby'
'fish' from June/July list
Looks like there is a shark in a tank trailer, which is hauled from one event to another. I didn't attend the fair (too hot & not that interested) So, took some photos from the adjacent street.

These parched birds found an island of water in a sea of grass. There were many more birds, which flew away as soon as I pointed the camera in their direction. (The water was near a hydrant where a tank truck just filled up.)

Courtney and Betty, thanks for the crab photo comments. Betty, those photos from the fair really capture the moment. I'm looking forward to getting some shots at the Ferry County Fair in NE WA in early Sept.

SWEET - Substituted "sweet" from February in place of this month's"Summer's Decline". A friend made this for a recent get-together and I just had to take a photo of it.

This makes #8.

boy am i hungry that looks so yummy.
The crab sequence is really interesting, Mary - and as for the photo of that mouthwatering cake...

Love the picture of the school bus, Betty. It looks really good. Do I detect a bit of Topaz adjust in the processing? Most schools in the Uk don't start for another week.

Well, I have found one for 'crab'. :D

My dictionary says:
Crab, noun. Short for crab apple. Of Scandinavian origin? cf the Swedish skrabbe - crab apple

I always wondered what a crab apple looked like. Now I know.
