Thanks for the new 8, Betty. I feel like I'm way behind on my "homework" as I only posted 3 from last month. This month I'll be away on vacation for 2 weeks and I've found I don't like processing photos and posting when I'm away from my home computer. I haven't been processing much at home anyway. I seem to be in a long photo slump. Well, I'll just enjoy everyone else's photos and do what I can.

Very nice selection of subjects for August.

I'll start off with what might be a stretch. I have always marveled at how, when the weather conditions get just right, an unexpected explosion of mushrooms will erupt in my yard; usually around the edges. Then, two or three days later, they are all black and shrivled up.

I took these photos two days ago; they are now all gone.

Rusty, I don't think that's a stretch at all. Nature is just a wonder in itself. I might even photograph one of my big beautiful dahlias as a natural wonder! I really like your collage layout of the photos, too! Did you have to lie on your back to get the photos of the mushies' undersides??

Rusty -- A Wonderful artistic composition & a terrific start for this month.

Courtney, have a fantastic vacation.

This, of course, is not something I shot (I wish). I saw it on the National Geo Website & thought others might enjoy it.

Not totally a natural wonder, but it is definitely a wonder.Image
a temporary post & will be removed soon.

Wow! What a great "house on the rock".

No, Mary, not on my back. I don't have a DSLR with "live view", I just held the camera down close to the ground and pointed at what I thought "would work". I had a 40mm macro lens mounted so I was only three or four inches away ... not difficult to guess at what I was getting.

Well, it sure worked, Rusty!

That truly is a wonder, Betty, and I wonder where it is...

Damage: From 2 weeks ago - will try to get another one at the end of August - maybe a before and after. This scene is from the kitchen of the pine tree-damaged house. The tree in view was seen as a threat and cut down shortly after the photo was taken.
