Ok, I'm back from my family surprise party in NY and my mother-in-law had a slide show created for my Grandmother's party. Everyone cried and loved it so I know that I need to do this for other family members. The video was created in Windows Movie Maker which I have on my computer. I'm running vista if that matters. My question is should i invest in Premier elements 3 or stick with what I have?

I have tried a slide show in PSE5 and it didn't come out very well. The wording that I typed on the slides became bunched up and no longer readable.

I'm really intersted in doing these slideshows with music and changing the way each slide transitions. Any advice?????

Even though I own Elements I prefer the software pacakage "Pro Show Gold". I found it easier to use than Elements and it has lots of bells and whistles as you gain some experience. Cost is about the same as Elements.

I agree with Dedean, if you are only going to be doing slideshows invest in ProShow Gold or ProShow Producer. If you want to create movies then bite the bullet and learn Premiere Elements :)

Thanks for the info, I'm going to check it out now and see what I find.

One thing to keep in mind, if you are creating slideshows to be displayed on a television, the images will be 720 x 480 resolution (for NTSC countries like the USA) and no more. Televisions can only display 720 x 480 so that is all you get unless you are working with Hi Definition and that is another subject. The resolution issue is probably at least partly to blame for the squished text in your Photoshop Elements slideshow ;)

Thanks, I do understand what your talking. I thought elements would take care of all those hidden issues but none the less I need some software that will just allow my to create a slide show, burn it to disk and play on my TV without messing up the text. I have only tried one in PSE5. i have not even installed premier so I can't comment on that. I guess I need to get more info and try the demo for the ones mentioned above and see for myself first.

I think you will find ProShow Gold easy to use and it will produce excellent quality slide shows.

I use PE all the time for slideshows and I think it's great. I am knid of a newbie, so it might be that the third party programs that the otheres reference might be better for the more advance work. But I have found that simple slide/music/transitions/titles, etc are actually pretty good with PE. Just my .02 !!

Just the opposite, the other programs are easy to use and don't do near as much as Premiere Elements. This is especially true if you are going to add video, Premiere Elements is a much more advanced product than even ProShow Producer.

Ok I understand what y'all are telling me and I think that since I have Premier, I may just use that. I have not installed it yet. Chuck noted on another post in PET that Premier will not work well with AMD. I don't remember if that was v4 or any version. My PC is an AMD running Vista OS. Do y'all know of any compatability issues???
